In the field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) one of the major research issues is the economical and rapid acquisition and structuring of spatial information.
The investigations are focussing on automatic object extraction, integrated modelling, management, exchange and visualisation of raster and vector data and on the integration into GIS. Additionally, GIS related applications and project management methods are developed and put into practice.

Investigations in the field of Theory of Errors are aiming at providing mathematical methods and procedures for modern geodesy. They include robust estimators, reliability and multi-dimensional mathematical models.
